Get FELT- Mariachi Meets Punk With Pancho Villa's Skull Live January 5th

What do you get when you cross traditional Mariachi music with Punk rock snarl and attitude?
The answer: Pancho Villa’s Skull. Pancho Villa’s Skull was started by Tino Ybarra in 2011. While growing up in Pontiac, Michigan, Tino developed a love from Mariachi music through his grandfather on his mother’s side who, sang and played trumpet. He also, spent time in south Texas with his paternal grandfather who took him across the border to Mexico from time to time so, he could know where he came from. As, he got older he started playing in punk and ska bands around Detroit yet, he wanted to feel more connected to his roots. Inspired by bands like Gogol Bordello and The Pogues, both of whom looked into their own pasts to create something new, he decided to create what he calls Mariachi punk and started Pancho Villa’s Skull. At the beginning of 2016 his brother Rolando Ybarra joined the band to play percussion and added to the sound heavily. Making the sound bigger but, maintaining a stripped down feel. 2016 is what they are calling their “Pata de Perro” year because, they have been all over the east coast, and the Midwest! So, ponganse trucha compas! They are probably hitting your town next!! DOORS|8pm|COVER|$5|ALL AGES

Exploding from (the suburbs of) Detroit rock city in 2001, and venturing to the absolute bottom of the rabbit hole by 2015, Downtown Brown (DTB) has carved a unique saga over their 14-year existence. Jamming a mutant style that splices together punk, funk, metal, rock, and hip-hop, DTB is a band impossible to categorize. People tend to either love them, hate them, or are just generally puzzled by their often politically incorrect, outrageous, satiric lyrics coupled with genre-hopping technical skill. Get FELT-Goddamn Gallows To Play The Loving Touch This Friday November 18th!

The Goddamn Gallows came from the heart of America's Rust Belt, arising from a night of flophouse violence. Drifting across the states, they cemented their sound in Portland, OR and later in Los Angeles, CA, where they lived in abandoned buildings, squatter camps, storage units and shoebox apartments. In 2007, they left everything behind and spent the next 4 years living out of whatever vehicle would get them to the next town. Building upon their original sound of twanged-out, punk rock gutterbilly (Life of Sin 2004 and Gutterbillyblues 2007), they began picking up stray musicians along the way and adding to their sound; washboard, accordion, mandolin and banjo (Ghost of the’ Rails 2009 and 7 Devils 2011) creating a sound referred to as "hobocore", "gypsy-punk" or "americana-punk", while never being stuck in any one sound.

The Goddamn Gallows continue to rapidly grow a devoted following with their volatile and spectacular live shows; a contagious, spontaneous eruption of unpredictability.

Catch them here on friday! Doors 8pm|Advanced Ticket Price $13| Day Of Ticket Price $15|All Ages

You FEEL me? Tim Kasher of The Good Life plays The Loving Touch November 13th!

Tim Kasher and The Good Life make their return to The Loving Touch this Sunday, November 13th. You may remember Tim from a little band called Cursive . . . he and The Good Life explore some really, really awesome new territory and have a sound unlike any other. Tim sat down with FELT to answer some quick questions in advance of Sunday's show.

If you could have FELT readers check out one song of yours, what would it be?: "You Wouldn't Care if I Died", the first song I ever wrote at age 14. There is sadly no recording.

Tough question - what is your ultimate favorite album of all time?: Violent Femmes S/T

What is the best show you've ever played, and why?: Hmm... maybe it will occur sometime in the future?

Is there a song that will make you cry, 9 times out of 10, if you let it? : This Woman's Work by Kate Bush

If you had a song that just didn't want to be finished, which group would you call in to wrap that sucker up - The Bee Gees or The Eagles? : The Bee Gees

why?: Aren't Bee Gees songs shorter than Eagles songs? So that's why

If you could see one person in the audience when you perform, who would that be? What would they be wearing?: Just Charo wearing her Charo clothes

Any bands you think people should seek out and pay attention to?: Campdogzz

What is your comic relief on the road? A band member, Netflix, prank phone call podcasts, etc?: Roger L Lewis

Tickets are still available for Sunday's show - buy them here!

You FEEL Me? James Linck at The Loving Touch

James Linck is playing The Loving Touch tomorrow at an awesome event called Yup.  Other featured artists are One Be Lo, Nolan the Ninja, Nuntheless, and Dante LaSalle. Make sure to head over to the WAB after the show for an afterparty featuring cheap drinks, great food, and some QT with the performers. James sat down with FELT to answer the most important questions he'll ever face.

If you could have FELT readers check out one song of yours, what would it be?: The Artist

Tough question - what is your ultimate favorite album of all time?: Blonde On Blonde (but skip "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" and start with "Pledging My Time")

What is the best show you've ever played, and why?: I was 8 years old and I played "Jingle Bells" on piano at this charity benefit thing at Cobo Hall. I was really nervous and sweating alot. It made my fingers really slippery on the keys and I messed up a couple times. I'm always a little nervous when I perform but I'll never be as nervous as that.

Is there a song that will make you cry, 9 times out of 10, if you let it? : I basically cry while listening to songs all day so its hard to pick one but I teared up listening to Chance The Rapper's track "Interlude (That's Love)" from off his "Acid Rap" mixtape just today.

If you had a song that just didn't want to be finished, which group would you call in to wrap that sucker up - The Bee Gees or The Eagles? : The Bee Gees

why?: I don't know, they're fun. I sing in falsetto alot too.

If you could see one person in the audience when you perform, who would that be? What would they be wearing?: My 10th grade english teacher. I don't even know if he's still around but he always liked my poems. He'd have to be wearing one of the 70's button ups he wore everyday.

Any bands you think people should seek out and pay attention to?: I heard this dude who goes by musclebaby at a show this summer. He had these weirdo songs that were really emotional but pretty funny too. His recordings kinda sound like shit but I'd check him out live if you see the name on a bill.

What is your comic relief on the road? A band member, Netflix, prank phone call podcasts, etc?: We just talk about how terrible the tour is going and laugh about how we're wasting our lives. LOL!

How does THIS make you feel? Wild Nothing TONIGHT at The Loving Touch

Wild Nothing, a.k.a Brooklyn-based musician Jake Tatum, released his debut album Gemini in 2010 to critical acclaim. Five years on, with an equally impressive sophomore release and a series of EPs under his belt, Tatum is pleased to announce his third-studio album and self-proclaimed most “mature and honest” work to date, Life of Pause, which will be released February 19th via Bella Union.

When Jack Tatum began work on Life of Pause he had fascinating ambitions. “I desperately wanted for this to be the kind of record that would displace me,” he says. “I’m terrified by the idea of being any one thing, or being of any one genre. And whether or not I accomplish that, I know that my only hope of getting there is to constantly reinvent. That reinvention doesn’t need to be drastic, but every new record has to have it’s own identity, and it has to have a separate set of goals from what came before.”

Life of Pause is an exquisitely arranged and beautifully recorded collection of songs that marry the immediate with the indefinable. “I allowed myself to go down every route I could imagine even if it ended up not working for me,” he says. “I owe it to myself to take as many risks as possible. Songs are songs and you have to allow yourself to be open to everything.”

Get Felt - Saddle Creek's The Good Life (feat. Tim Kasher) - Nov. 13th

Omaha, NE’s The Good Life returns this summer with their first album in eight years, Everybody’s Coming Down. Call it a soundtrack to Man’s 21st century existential angst, the album poses cosmic queries, contemplates regrets, questions self-worth, and examines the possibility of living in the moment, when memories are all that we truly take with us. And in some ways, that’s the sweet spot front man and lyricist Tim Kasher inhabits: trying to make sense of this world of ours, and how and why we navigate it the way we do.

Everybody’s Coming Down moves in a new direction musically and, in contrast to The Good Life’s earlier releases, is very much a rock record. It is also the first that truly embodies the band as a whole, more so than any previous album. In blending elements of drummer Roger L. Lewis’s love of classic rock, multi-instrumentalist Ryan Fox’s chaotic approach to melody, Stefanie Drootin-Senseney’s propulsive yet tuneful bass parts, and Kasher’s deft, complementary song writing, the band sparked a vibrant evolution in sound. The gentler, folk-driven pop/rock for which the band is beloved remains (sonic sister album bookends “7 In The Morning” and “Midnight Is Upon Us;” “The Troubadour’s Green Room”), but it is now mixed amongst guitars lines that unspool in a blaze across songs that hit harder and more viscerally (“Everybody,” “Holy Shit”), as well as moments of distorted psychedelia and moody ambience (“Flotsam Locked Into A Groove,” “Diving Bell,” “How Small We Are”).

Wild Nothing: When Jack Tatum began work on Life of Pause, his third full-length to date, he had lofty ambitions: Don’t just write another album; create another world.
